For children with little to no musical experience, our Rock 101 camp is the perfect introduction to music. This camp provides an excellent opportunity to explore various musical instruments and determine if SLAM is the right fit for your family. Best of all, the week will end with a concert where the kids will get to perform for friends and family, showing off their hard work and new skills. They will go from potentially never having touched an instrument to playing songs from iconic bands like AC/DC – and it’s all possible in just one week! Dates: June 9-13 and July 14-18. Each camp runs from 9 am - 2 pm. Camps are limited to 15 campers on a first come, first served basis and consist of five 50-minute sessions each day on topics such as bandcraft, stagecraft, acoustic, musicianship, music electronics, music theory, and how to be rockin' bandmate. Includes muffins, cookies, fresh fruit, and beverage provided in the lounge all day. The tuition for the week long summer camp is $400. Secure your spot at https://www.slamslc.org/rockcamp
Tickets & Info: https://thestateroompresents.com/state-room-presents/gong Gong began in 1969 when Daevid Allen was inspired by a profound psychedelic vision. A founder member of Soft Machine, Allen incorporated his spiritual and metaphysical leanings into an evolving collective. More a mythology than a band in the conventional sense, Gong established itself as one of the most unique, innovative and experimental rock groups of the seventies, through an exploratory mix of rock, jazz and psychedelia with elements of mysticism and surrealism. The current incarnation of Kavus Torabi, Dave Sturt, Fabio Golfetti, Ian East and Cheb Nettles is the most stable in Gong's illustrious history, having written, recorded and toured together for eight years since Allen's passing. This collective honours Daevid's intention that Gong do not die with him, urging the band to “carry it on into new unknown heights and depths far beyond anything I could ever imagine myself”.
