Stop Motion Animation (Ages 8-12)

Unleash your creativity in this fun-filled stop-motion animation camp designed for young artists! Working as a team, students will learn how to layer 2D moving puppets with large background drawings to create moving pictures. During this week, we will be creating a visual representation of Edvard Grieg’s masterpiece: “In the Hall of the Mountain King”. By the end of the camp, these kids will have a complete animated short film they created from start to finish! For the first two days of camp, students will be working as a team to draw and assemble all the character puppets and background scenery. For the second two days, we’ll be creating the animation by moving our puppets across the scenery, photographing each step, and linking all images together. The last day of class will be a chance to watch our masterpiece, and experiment with other animation tools for fun. You can check out this Youtube video to see an example of last summer’s stop motion animation camp project: "Peter and the Wolf" Stop Motion Animation. *Make sure to turn your YouTube settings up to highest quality so you can see the video clearly!* PRICE: $215 for 5 Day Camp.
