On Monday, March 9, 2026 from 6:30 – 8:45 p.m., the 71 Percent Coalition and Black Lives Matter (Utah Chapter) will host a public Town Hall for the eight Democratic Party candidates for Congress from Utah’s new District 1. Six of the eight Democratic congressional candidates have already confirmed that they will attend. All eight have been invited. This is an opportunity for the public to hear directly from the candidates on major issues of public concern. The Town Hall will be conducted along the lines of a presidential debate, with questions gathered in advance from prospective audience members through a form on the website of the 71 Percent Coalition. Two moderators – one each from the 71 Percent Coalition and Black Lives Matter (Utah Chapter) – will guide the discussion. Additional cosponsors include: Healthcare Workers for Palestine SLC, Green Wave, Local CWA 7765, Salt Lake Artists Against Genocide, the Salt Lake Community Bail Fund, Salt Lake Bakers for Palestine, the Church of Protest, and Utah Jews for Palestine.
