It's an Indigenous People's Day RadioACTive Special! We're talking with Navajo musician/singer Talibah Begay. Then we sit down with Westsiders Maria Garciaz of NeighborWorks Salt Lake and Dave Galvan of Mestizo Coffeehouse. And Jacob Crane stops by to share about the Red Canyon Powwow as we celebrate all that is Native and fabulous in Utah.

Dave John talks with musician/singer Talibah Begay about bridging the generations with their Native heritage and getting her start with traditional Navajo singing and music. 

Jacob Crane shares about the 4th Annual Red Canyon Powwow presented by Cultural Fire Events . Grand Entry begins noon Saturday, October 19 and again at 12:00 pm on Sunday, Oct 20 at the Old Spanish Trail Arena in Moab, Utah.

Radioactive's Lara Jones and Olivia Jaramillo sat down with longtime Westsiders Maria Garciaz of NeighborWorks Salt Lake and Dave Galvan of Mestizo Coffeehouse … over salsa and empanadas. They talk about the word Mestizo, the way history is … or isn’t … taught about the “discovery” of the new world, and their dedication to building community.

  • Oct. 22: In-person early voting begins

  • Oct. 25: Last day to register to vote for the general election *** by 5:00 p.m. MST *** Same-day voter registration is available on Election Day by visiting a vote center in person. Find more information on vote.utah.gov or contact your county clerk.

  • Oct. 29: In-person early voting begins at satellite locations

  • Oct. 29: Last day to request a by-mail ballot

  • Nov. 1: In-person early voting ends

  • Nov. 4: Ballot postmark deadline

  • Nov. 5: General Election
