Throughout July:

  • National Buffalo Soldiers Day Commemoration, 6:00-7:30 p.m., 41st Floor, Saltair Room, Olpin Union Building, University of Utah, 200 S. Central Campus Dr., SLC. Event by Sema Hadithi African American Heritage and Culture Foundation: "Did you know that Buffalo Soldiers were stationed in Utah? Not only were they stationed here but TWO units were assigned here: 24th Infantry and 9th Calvary. At this event we will have a presentation of the NEW upcoming Buffalo Soldiers Historic Trail we are working on with the Utah State Preservation Office, as well as Buffalo Soldier artifacts and a Buffalo Soldier exhibit." FREE. Due to LIMITED SEATING please click here to register.

Tuesday, July 30: 

  • Nature and Health Community Fair, at Northwest Rec Center, 1255 W. Clark Ave. Salt Lake City. "This is the first-ever Nature and Health Community Fair event! The goal of this event is to highlight the many ways to embrace nature, highlight organizations that are improving access to the outdoors, and promote the health benefits of being outside. There are so many ways to connect with nature other than hiking or camping. Sitting outside and watching the sunset, nurturing a house plant, or drawing a picture of natural space are all ways to connect with nature. During this fair, we will be focusing on accessible ways to benefit from nature. Expect and outdoor movement class, plant potting tutorial, kids arts and crafts, information from nature and health organizations in SLC, AND MORE"

  • Capaw Presents: 2024 PIK2AR Regional Conference in SLC at Zions Bancorporation’s Midvale Technology Center, 7860 Bingham Junction Blvd., Midvale.   • Utah Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons Peaceful Picket, 11:00 a.m. outside offices of Ensign Peak, 60 E. South Temple St., SLC. "What church invests in killing machines? Come picket peacefully. Ensign Peak (EP) is the entity pushing tithes into the coffers of warmongers like Raytheon, Lockheed-Martin, General Dynamics and Northrop Grumman. Remind EP that supporting violence with member donations is just wrong."

  • Pacific Islander Skate Night, 6:00-10:00 p.m. at Millcreek Common, 1354 E. Chambers Ave., Millcreek. "We are thrilled to announce Millcreek’s 2nd Annual Pacific Islander Skate Night, a cornerstone event, kicking off celebrations of Utah's 12th Annual Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This vibrant celebration will take place on August 2nd at Millcreek Common and promises to be an unforgettable evening filled with cultural pride, community spirit, and family-friendly fun.   • 12th Annual Utah Pacific Island Heritage Month Kick-Off, 5:00-10:00 p.m. at Lodestone Park, 5993 S. Far Vista Dr., SLC. "This one-day event officially kicks off a month of festivities all being hosted in honor of Utah Pacific Island Heritage Month. Since 2012, August has been observed as Utah Pacific Island Heritage Month to celebrate the unique history and contributions of Pacific Islanders to the state of Utah. This free, non-ticketed community event brings together both Pacific Island communities and our wider Utah community to commemorate the occasion through local and cultural demonstrations, music, dance, food, clothing, games and activities for children, opportunity drawings, and so much more!   • Puncture Vine Bounty Program, multiple days along the Jordan River. Event by Jordan River Commission and Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands: "The Jordan River Commission is offering a $2.50 per pound 'bounty' for the removal of puncturevine (Tribulus terrestris), also known as 'goathead.' This noxious weed has sharp burs that puncture bicycle tires and feet of humans and pets.

    "This program is available to registered organizations in the State of Utah, including but not limited to, businesses, nonprofits, community and religious organizations, social clubs, and school groups.

  • UDAF application deadline at 5:00 p.m. today for agricultural conservation easement fund: "The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) announces applications are now open for the LeRay McAllister Working Farm and Ranch Fund, with $1,000,000 in new funding available for agricultural conservation easements in Utah. This significant financial opportunity aims to support the preservation and protection of working farms and ranches across the state, ensuring that these vital lands remain productive and accessible for future generations in perpetuity. Applications are open through August 16, 2024, at 5:00 pm.   • 38th National Veterans Golden Age Games, Salt Lake City. "The VA Salt Lake City Health Care System and National Veterans Golden Age Games are looking for nearly 2,000 volunteers to give back to our Veterans as they go for the gold in Salt Lake this summer. Nearly 1,100 Veterans from across the country will descend on Salt Lake from August 24-29 for the 38th National Veterans Golden Age Games. The Golden Age Games serve Veterans 55 and older who receive care at VA medical centers. We are looking for volunteers of all ages. The only restrictions are ages 5-13 must be accompanied by a parent and 14-17 must have parental permission." To register to volunteer, click here.

  • Festa Italiana SLC | 2024,  The Gateway, 18 N. Rio Grande St., SLC. Event by Festa Italiana SLC: "Salt Lake City's famous Italian Festival, Festa Italiana SLC, returns for its 9th year on September 14th and 15th at The Gateway! Come enjoy live Italian entertainment and the culinary diversity of Italy. This year's festival will be held at The Gateway along the street from 100 S to the Fountain and Piazza at the North end. Admission is FREE.
