Rooted Meets #NoKings

Rooted: Stories of Plant Medicine, People and Progress with Christine Stenquist is an occasional serieswhere Roundtable Tuesday explores different aspects of medical cannabis. Tonight, the intersection of medical cannabis and the #NoKings in SLC. More about our guests:

  • Christine Stenquist has been at the center of medicinal cannabis work here in Utah, founding the first patient-focused organization, TRUCE (Together for Responsible Use and Cannabis Education), to help educate and raise awareness that led to the Prop 2 campaign for a medical cannabis program. In addition to working with RadioACTive, she's launching a Rooted podcast for folks seeking more information on history, science, policy, and people’s lived experiences as a way to connect to their community.

  • Drew Reese, aka "The Pothead Veteran," is a disabled veteran, a patient, a former combat journalist, chairman of the State Veterans Caucus, and an advocate for vets and medical cannabis. Check out his Substack or the veteran-focused diving group, diveintohealing.org, he mentioned during the show.

  • Tiffiny Malo, a longtime community leader and medical cannabis patient. She first stepped into leadership as an organizer for the Family Readiness Group, helping military families and building connections and support when their loved ones were serving overseas. Later, through her journey with PTSD, pain, and mental health, Tiffany discovered cannabis as a tool for healing for her and her military families.

  • For help with costs and care after tonight, Utah’s Center for Medical Cannabis has the patient portal, provider finder, and pharmacy list. Zion Medicinal and Dragonfly Wellness both run ongoing discount programs, and Utah Patients Coalition offers a subsidy program for those who qualify. Use those links if you have problems, questions, or send an email to Rooted@ChristineStenquist.com.
