RadioACTive, the Talanoa Way, with Stephanie Mahina, dives deep into Utah's Pasifika community. We have Paula Fuga, a singer, poet and an accomplished ukulele player, who plays Kingsbury Hall tomorrow night. Then we talkstory with Benjamin Powell of Creative Pacific Foundation about their upcoming fashion show.

Benjamin Powell, a co-founder of Creative Pacific Foundation is sharing about the two day event and the importance of Pasifika beauty and fashion in the industry. "His career has spanned across several opportunities with Regis Corporation, a fortune 500 company, where he served as a Regional Sales Director. The last 15 years he was with Paul Mitchell as a national corporate sales lead, which allowed him to travel and work with salons in North America, Canada, Europe and Caribbean. Currently working with Aveda." A few of the events that will be at the Pasifika Fashion week are:

  • EVENT: Monday, September 23, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Culture and Industry Workshop at Utah Valley University, Sorensen Student Center. Learn from not only those who are skilled in their culture & crafts but also professionals in various creative industries such as beauty, fashion, marketing, manufacturing, budgeting, film and so much more.

  • EVENT:  Wednesday, Sept 25, 2024 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Market Day + Designer Runway Competition, Designers both local & international will be selling during our Market Day alongside other local small business. Watch a fashion design competition unfold during the day.

  • EVENT: Friday, September 27, 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm MDT Creative Pacific Fashion Show at Mountain America Expo Center

Paula Fuga, singer, poet and an accomplished ukulele player and founder of the "Mana Wāhine Productions is a new and independent company founded by Paula Fuga, committed to presenting her progressive sound and creative concepts through empowering live events and collaborative artistic endeavors."
