April is financial literacy month. RadioACTive talks women+ and money with ShePlace founder Jacki Zehner, the youngest woman, and the first female trader to join the partnership of Goldman Sachs. Excellence in the Community Concert Series. Plus, A Bigger Table on Passover with Feldman's Deli, serving authentic Jewish cuisine since 2012.

Jeff Whiteley and Andrew Cohen of Excellence in the Community, a nonprofit working to create more and better performance opportunities for Utah musicians. Since it began in December 2005, they have presented roughly 750 events.

  • April 24: Flamingo, 7:30 p.m. at Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main St., SLC. Event by Excellence in the Community: "

    From Salt Lake City, Utah, Flamingo plays Jazz & Blues inspired by New Orleans, Havana, and Miami. Formed in early-2021, the group began a weekly Jazz show which quickly garnered attention and resulted in regularly sold-out shows. 'The Flamboyance,' their debut album, was recorded live at Counterpoint Studios in Salt Lake City and released to local critical acclaim in September of 2022. Consisting of Trumpet, Saxophone, Vocals, Piano, Upright Bass, and Drums, Flamingo is a fresh and modern take on Jazz. With a catalog featuring New Orleans Standards, Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and more, Flamingo is Jazz & Blues like you’ve never heard them before. Flamingo’s 2023 residency is every Wednesday at Lake Effect in Salt Lake City, and can also be seen regularly in Las Vegas at the famed Mob Museum and other LV locales."

  • June 6-7: Inaugural SheMoney Summit: Money Matters. Event by ShePlace: "Money is not optional. We all need money to survive and thrive. It is not an end, but a means, helping us on our journey to wellness and freedom. This is a first-of-its-kind gathering that celebrates women+, money and power. A Bigger Table is KRCL's occasional series that mashes up stories about food, culture and family. Tonight, RadioACTive's Val MC visits with Michael Feldman of Feldman's Deli to talk about Passover, Jewish cuisine, and more.

  • VISIT: Feldman's Deli, 2005 E. 2700 S., SLC, is a New York-style delicatessen offering a variety of traditional Jewish Deli sandwiches and European/Old World specialties, from pastrami, corned beef, reubens, and boiled and baked bagels, to homemade entrées include pierogi, stuffed cabbage, chicken paprikash, kielbasa, and more. Also known for blintzes, bialys, chopped liver, smoked whitefish salad, and matzo ball soup."
