Jeff Whiteley and Andrew Cohen of Excellence in the Community, a nonprofit working to create more and better performance opportunities for Utah musicians. Since it began in December 2005, they have presented roughly 750 events.
From Salt Lake City, Utah, Flamingo plays Jazz & Blues inspired by New Orleans, Havana, and Miami. Formed in early-2021, the group began a weekly Jazz show which quickly garnered attention and resulted in regularly sold-out shows. 'The Flamboyance,' their debut album, was recorded live at Counterpoint Studios in Salt Lake City and released to local critical acclaim in September of 2022. Consisting of Trumpet, Saxophone, Vocals, Piano, Upright Bass, and Drums, Flamingo is a fresh and modern take on Jazz. With a catalog featuring New Orleans Standards, Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and more, Flamingo is Jazz & Blues like you’ve never heard them before. Flamingo’s 2023 residency is every Wednesday at Lake Effect in Salt Lake City, and can also be seen regularly in Las Vegas at the famed Mob Museum and other LV locales."
