Tonight's show was a rebroadcast of RadioACTive from Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023. We wanted to do something different for Thanksgiving, to show that food connects families – the ones we’re born into, and the ones we choose — across all origin stories. So tonight, we’re setting A Bigger Table, with food traditions from a great group of local chefs:
Valene MC makes fry bread with Khalilah Tso, then learns the secrets of tamales with Wendy Juarez of Prime Corn. You can sample Wendy's pre-Hispanic Mexican cuisine at the Salt Lake City & County Building, 451 S. State St., where she has a pop-up cafe through Dec. 29. Look for her pop-up on the east side of the building, downstairs, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Chef Donovan of Jamaica's Kitchen, who says it was his grandmother who helped him learn to make his signature dish.
Dallas Olson, chef-owner of Fácil Taqueria, whose tacos have taken him and his wife from food truck to bricks-and-mortar in Holladay.

James Edwards of James’ Gourmet Pies shares the key ingredient in his popular sweet potato pies. In addition to online orders, James has a kiosk at Layton Hills Mall this pie season.
A big thanks to Spice Kitchen Incubator, a project of the The International Rescue Committee in Salt Lake City. The nonprofit brings together refugees and other disadvantaged community members interested in starting a full or part-time food business. They connected us with several of our chefs for tonight’s show.
