Wednesday, Sept. 24: From Bomba Marile and SanArte Cultura, the transformative healing space in Puerto Rico, RadioACTive talks health and wellness through music and dance.   • Fri-Sat, Sept. 26-27: SanArte @ Sorenson Multi-Cultural Center & Unity Fitness Center, 1383 S 900 W, SLC. RadioACTive gets a preview with Miriam Padilla Vargas of Bomba Marilé, and visiting artists Victor Velez and Jannira Roman Laguer. They are the directors of SanArte Cultura in Puerto Rico.

    • ABOUT: SanArte Cultura is a transformative healing space in Puerto Rico that integrates Bomba—a traditional Afro-Caribbean art—with meditation, drumming, coaching, mentoring, psychotherapy, and dance to foster deep healing, empowerment, and spiritual growth. Through the rhythm of Bomba, they create immersive experiences where movement, sound, and self-expression become tools for personal transformation.

  • Oct. 2-19: Just Add Water, a world premiere by playwrights Matthew Ivan Bennett and Elaine Jarvik | various dates and times in the Studio Theatre @ The Rose, 138 W. Broadway, SLC. RadioACTive talks with the playwrights about their latest work, produced by Plan-B Theatre Co.

    • ABOUT: "In JUST ADD WATER, Great Salt Lake takes human form and heads into the city on a quest to understand what is happening to her and what she can do about it. A whimsical, cli-fi dramedy about nature spirits, open mics, mic drops, humans, dust, and hope."

    • Oct. 2025/Feb. 2026: Eb & Flo, a world premiere by Elaine Jarvik | various dates in the Studio Theatre at The Rose, 138 W. Broadway, SLC. "Flo, a fantastic flamingo who craves adventure, meets Eb, a sensible seagull worried about a shrinking lake. EB & FLO was created specifically for grades K-3 about the importance of Great Salt Lake and how small actions can have big effects. Free public performances as part of Plab-B Theatre's 13th annual, statewide Free Elementary School Tour."

    • JUST ADD WATER and EB & FLO are The Great Salt Lake Plays, part of Wake the Great Salt Lake, a temporary art project supported by Salt Lake City Arts Council, Salt Lake City's Mayor's Office, and Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge.

  • Sept. 29: Jordan River Walk and Talk Series – Week 5 | 6:30-8 PM @ Legacy Nature Preserve Entrance, North Salt Lake. Hosted by Jordan River Commission & The Nature Conservancy: "A guided Nature Walk and Talk at the Legacy Nature Preserve with The Nature Conservancy. Only open to the public for this special event. Don’t miss out on amazing bird watching on the Great Salt Lake. Ashley Brown, the author of Urban Trails Salt Lake City, will be giving an educational talk. You don’t want to miss this amazing guided hike that will be full of fun facts about the flora and fauna of the Jordan River Trail and GSL."

Given MAHA and RX misinformation, Dr. Eddie Holloway, a Pediatric Resident at the University of Utah and part of Black Physicians of Utah, wants you to be prepared for the cold/flu/COVID season. He will also bust some vaccine myths and share his insights. As always, check with your own health care provider before taking any course of action. 

  • Oct. 25: Annual Medicine Immersion Day | 8-2 PM @ Alta View Hospital, 9660 S 1300 E, Sandy. Event by Black Physicians of Utah: "Intermountain Health and Black Physicians of Utah are collaborating for the 4th consecutive year for Medicine Immersion Day, a community event to benefit Utah high school and undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds, to see their paths into medicine. It's an opportunity for pre-med students and high school or college students to gain insight from Black and allied physicians in a variety of specialties. Event targeting Black and URM students 15-26 years old may register. PLEASE ONLY 1 TICKET PER ATTENDEE. EACH REGISTRANT MUST REGISTER WITH A SEPARATE EMAIL ADDRESS."
