Tuesday, Sept. 9: Voices for Utah Children is getting ready to celebrate 40 years and 40 champions. RadioACTive and Voices highlight changemakers who have made a lasting difference for Utah's kids. SLC Arts Council is ready to unveil a Wake the Lake mural by Trevor Dahl in Rose Park. Rooted: Stories of Plant Medicine, People, and Progress, with Christine Stenquist and Valerie Ahanonu, Center for Medical Cannabis Research.

  • Sept. 10: Wake the Lake Mural Party | 5-7 PM @ 910 W 1000 N, SLC. SLC Arts Council's Siri Vlasic and Andrew Shaw share the briny deets.

    • Event by Salt Lake City Arts Council: "Wake the Great Salt Lake invites you to a Mural Party! A one-night-only event celebrating the unveiling of Trevor Dahl's newest mural, 'Watchers of the Shore.' The Mural Party will feature art, performances, and community organizations all working towards preserving Great Salt Lake. Free and open to the public, see you there."

  • Sept. 12: Voices Celebrates 40 Years | 10-Noon @ Ken Garff Scholarship Club at Rice Eccles Stadium, 451 S 1400 E, SLC. RadioACTive gets the inside scoop with Deputy Director Gabe Archuleta and Terry Haven (retired) from Voices. 

    • "Voices for Utah Children is celebrating 40 years! Join us for a free community breakfast as we celebrate four decades of advocacy for Utah kids. Enjoy the morning with fellow partners and advocates as we recognize 40 community champions who have supported children across the state. Roundtable Tuesday: Who's in Charge of Rx Cannabis Studies in Zion?

From Rooted: Stories of Plant Medicine, People, and Progress, with Christine Stenquist, we dive into research and regulations with special guest Valerie Ahanonu, Senior Program Manager for the University of Utah's Center for Medical Cannabis Research. The center is focused on expanding the presence of cannabis and cannabinoid-related research throughout the state of Utah.

  • Ahanonu completed her BS in Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Utah. She then began a 13-year career in pharmaceutical research, working in clinical operations and trial management across multiple disciplines of clinical research, including hematology, rare disease lymphomas, immunology/virology, and plant medicine therapeutics. Ahanonu will oversee all administrative aspects of the Center for Medical Cannabis Research.
