Utah's film industry is celebrating 100 years. Whether Sundance stays or not, filmmakers will keep filming in the Beehive State or making movies about Utah stories and characters. Tonight, RadioACTive's Roundtable Tuesday talks with the folks behind, in or attached to four such films.

  • Dec. 11: Salt Lake Premiere of The Conqueror: Hollywood Fallout, 6:30 p.m. at The City Library - Nancy Tessman Auditorium, 210 E. 400 S., SLC. FREE but RSVP requested. "Hollywood's infamous flop, 'The Conqueror,' stars John Wayne as Genghis Khan, embodying a slew of racist and sexist problems. Its enduring notoriety stems from the tragic fact that nearly half its cast and crew developed cancer, revealing a tale of government deception and negligent production choices, highlighting the devastating impact of nuclear fallout."

Filmmaker Erika Cohn and Utah Film Center and Artist Foundry's Amanda Madden talk about investigating the world's largest women's prison where inmates have had their reproductive and human rights violated.

  • Dec. 4: Artist Foundry, Utah Filmmaker Showcase presents Belly of the Beast, 7:00 p.m. at The City Library - Nancy Tessman Auditorium, 210 E. 400 S., SLC. FREE but RSVP requested. "The pastoral farmlands surrounding the Central California Women’s Facility, the world’s largest women’s prison, help conceal the reproductive and human rights violations transpiring inside its walls. A courageous young woman who was involuntarily sterilized at the age of 24 while incarcerated at the facility, teams up with a radical lawyer to stop these violations. They spearhead investigations that uncover a series of statewide crimes, primarily targeting women of color, from inadequate access to healthcare to sexual assault to illegal sterilization. Together, with a team of tenacious heroines, both in and out of prison, they take to the courtroom to fight for reparations. But no one believes them. As additional damning evidence is uncovered by the Center for Investigative Reporting, a media frenzy and a series of hearings provide hope for some semblance of justice. Yet, doctors and prison officials contend that the procedures were in each person’s best interest and of an overall social benefit. Invoking the weight of the historic stain and legacy of eugenics, BELLY OF THE BEAST presents a decade-long, infuriating contemporary legal drama."
