Jan. 15: Material opening reception for 'Karen Andrews - Into the Light of Day' | 6-8 PM @ Material, 2970 S West Temple, SLC. Short art talk from 6-6:30 PM. RadioACTive talks with gallery co-founder Jorge Rojas about Andrews, a Utah native and largely self-taught artist.
ABOUT: Andrews developed her practice through close study of painters such as LaConte Stewart, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Guy Wiggins, as well as artists associated with the early-20th-century Old Lyme Art Colony. Drawn to architectural subjects and the subtle seams between the natural and the built environment, Andrews explored ideas of place, perception, and the power of viewership. Her paintings evoke an atmosphere of quiet estrangement—spaces that feel familiar yet curiously removed. READ MORE.

Temma Martin, founder of Operation Pawpulation, returns with Pet Goals 2026, vet tech Lesli Gomez, and Tank & Harriet. OP is a nonprofit low-cost spay/neuter clinic that helps pets live happier, healthier lives and helps keep them out of shelters.
2025 numbers: Operation Pawpulation finished out the year with 1,105 spay/neuter surgeries, since opening last spring. "This prevention has an exponential effect on the pet population, and on the number of pets who stay in their homes because of reduced health and behavior issues," Martin recently posted on Instagram. "I figure if each surgery prevented even one litter of six, we’ve already saved more than 6,600 animals from being born into our already overburdened shelter, rescue and rehoming systems. Thanks to my team and to everyone who has helped and supported us!"
Book Now: Located at 4392 S 900 E, Millcreek, Operation Pawpulation is open two days each week, on Mondays and Thursdays, with some Saturdays coming soon. Services include dog and cat spay & neuter, vaccines, and microchip IDs for Utah's pets.
