Salt City Slam celebrates 30 years in the community. Plus, state lawmakers plans for energy, elections and public lands.

Earlier today Utah Governor Spencer Cox and other state elected officials announced the state of Utah has brought a lawsuit before the United States Supreme Court to challenge the federal government’s control over federal public lands in the state. Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance Legal Director Steve Bloch joins RadioACTive to talk about why the nonprofit believes Utah to be the most anti-public lands state in the country.

  • Aug. 23: KRCL Skate Night, 6:00-10:00 p.m. at Millcreek Common, 1354 E. Chambers Ave., Millcreek. "KRCL’s Skate Night at Millcreek Common is the place to be this Friday. Enjoy skating, rock climbing, and cooling off at the splash pad — all while grooving to a live DJ (KRCL's own Connor Estes). Mention KRCL for FREE admission. Bring your friends, family, and your skates, or rent a pair on-site. It’s going to be a blast!"

Salt City Slam celebrates 30 years and RadioACTive gets a preview with 6 Utah poets, including Sammi Walker, Jesse Parent, Andrew Earley, Monica Lisette, and Melissa Salgero.

  • Aug. 26: Salt City Slam, 7:00 p.m. at The Beehive, 666 S. State St., SLC.Event by Salt City Slam: "We are so excited to welcome @bylechell as our feature for our 30th-anniversary slam!!! We have 11 hand-picked competitors for this slam and we will be announcing one by one throughout the month so look out for those!! And make sure you mark your calendar cause you won’t want to miss this slam!! LeChell 'The Shootah' Rush is a Black, Brooklyn-born, queer multidisciplinary artist who creates socially engaging works exploring the complexities and taboos of intersectionality through the lens of queerness, femininity, and mothering in Black womanhood. Her mediums include poetry, photography, film and collage." Tickets at the door. All ages venue.
