Roundtable Tuesday: Changes in the Rx Cannabis Landscape in UT, US

At the federal level, the President is considering legalizing or descheduling cannabis, and a new poll says two-thirds of Americans support it. Christine Stenquist returns with Rooted: Stories of Plant Medicine, People, and Progress. Special guest: Blake Smith, CEO and Chief Scientific Officer of Zion Medicinal.

  • Blake Smith is one of the nation's leading biochemists, focused on the extraction and isolation of specific cannabinoids for various therapeutic purposes. As a father of a daughter with a predilection for seizures, Smith is an active advocate of the healing medical benefits of cannabis.

  • Christine Stenquist is the creator and host of Rooted: Stories of Plant Medicine, People, and Progress. A brain tumor survivor who turned years of chronic pain into a fight for change, she helped lead the 2018 ballot initiative that secured Utah’s medical cannabis program. Beyond Utah, she has worked on plant medicine policy in other states and in Washington, D.C., bringing patient voices into national conversations. On Rooted, Stenquist connects science, policy, history, and personal stories in a way that’s human, hopeful, and rooted in community.
