To celebrate KRCL's 45th anniversary and the upcoming KRCL Record & CD Sale Part II, we are visiting and celebrating local record shops along the Wasatch Front. Tonight: Show Us Your 45s with Adam Tye of Diabolical Records, 238 S. Edison St., SLC. Filmmakers: Tamrika Khvtisiashvili and Connor Estes.

  • Aug. 29: KRCL Record & CD Sale Part II, 5:00-8:00 p.m. at 535 W. 300 N., SLC. The first Record Sale was an incredible success thanks to everyone who showed up. BUT, we still have so much incredible vinyl left that we're going to open the doors again! There will be fresh vinyl and CDs that didn't make it out to the first sale, too. Here's a second chance if you didn't make it to the first sale, and if you made it to the first sale, come on back and check out the new stuff. All music sales benefit Listeners' Community Radio of Utah KRCL, a non-profit organization celebrating 45 years of independence.

Grieving the loss of a pet is a unique, personal, and often misunderstood journey. Operation Pawpulation's Temma Martin is back to talk about it with Dr. Jessica Love of PETCARE Animal Hospital in South Jordan and pet portraitist Elizabeth Bunker of The Gilded Mutt. Temma shared the notes below:

  • Grieving the loss of a pet is a unique, personal, and often misunderstood journey. Pet grief is real and its intensity is often dismissed in our society — known as disenfranchised grief. Because pet grief is often not readily discussed, acknowledged or validated, processing and managing these emotions can be especially difficult on the bereaved pet owner.

  • Aug. 28: Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. According to the Human Animal Bond Research Institute, 82 percent of dog owners and 77 percent of cat owners in America consider their pet to be a family member or "like a child." The balance sees them as a friend or companion, and only two percent of pet owners view them as “just a pet.” The bond between pets and people is a profound one, so ahead of Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day (Aug. 28) and National Grief Awareness Day (Aug. 30), it should not be surprising that losing a pet is arguably the most agonizing aspect of having a beloved animal in our lives.
