This year’s short collection features the film Roots by local filmmaker Danny Schmidt."

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah Needs Men to Mentor

More than 78,000 children in Utah are living in poverty, and many of them are facing additional risk factors. For more than 45 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah has been bringing mentors (Bigs) into the lives of children (Littles) ages 6-18 facing multiple risk factors. BBBSU's Carl Grimm talks with RadioACTive about the nonprofit's annual "Men to Mentor" campaign (June-August annually), which addresses the critical shortage of male mentors every year. Right now, nearly 90 boys across Utah are waiting for a consistent, caring role model. Someone to shoot hoops with, talk about life with, and simply show up.
