Code Blue Utah Alerts: Passed by the Utah Legislative earlier this year, a Code Blue is called when the National Weather Service predicts temperatures will reach 15 degrees Fahrenheit, including a wind chill, for 2 hours or more over the next 24 hours. As they will tonight. It allows homeless shelters to increase their capacity to help folks get out of the cold for the duration of the Code Blue.
is a coalition of multiple organizations to provide a safe place on the coldest nights at the First United Methodist Church, 203 S. 200 E., SLC, generally on Friday and Saturday nights when temperatures fall below 25 degrees Fahrenheit. The church and the coalition coordinate volunteers to host movies from 8pm-7am, providing food and other resources.
