Friday, Nov. 10: 

  • Behind the Lavalava Podcast Presents a Pacific Island Veterans Day Dinner, 5:00-8:30 p.m. at Hale Centre Theatre, 9900 Monroe St., Sandy. "Free to all veterans! Come join us for a night of celebration and honor as we recognize the brave men and women from the Pacific Islands who have served our country, including all veterans. This event is a great opportunity to meet and connect with other veterans and their families while enjoying a delicious dinner. We will have a variety of Pacific Island-inspired dishes for dinner. There will also be music and entertainment throughout the night. Don't miss out on this special evening to show our appreciation for the sacrifices made by our Pacific Island veterans. Seating will be limited. Saturday, November 11:

  • Launch of Project Salaam, 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Room B of the downtown Salt Lake City Public Library, 210 E. 400 S., SLC. Event by Utah Muslim Civic League: "Ini this workshop, we are hearing from three formerly incarcerated Muslims and one mental health speaker who have generously agreed to share their stories with us. By creating space for them to share their experiences, we can begin to identify ways in which our community can disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline and support our youth. Guest speakers: Josh Samson, Ari Mullahkhel, Osama Al-Rekabi, and Mahad Omar." Free event, but an RSVP is requested to make arrangements for food. 

  • Rally for a Free Palestine, 2:00 p.m. at Washington Square Park, 451 S. State St., SLC. Event by Palestinian Solidarity Association of Utah and Party for Socialism and Liberation. 

  • Planting Good Relations: Indigenous Genealogies With Land, Water & Food, 11a-1p at Nature Center at Pia Okwai by Tracy Aviary, 1125 W. 3300 S., South Salt Lake. Event by Pacific Islands Studies at the University of Utah: "Come to hear a panel of speakers & enjoy a lunch of Indigenous (both Pacific Islander and Native American) dishes!

    Speakers include: Daniel Hernandez (Nature Center at Pia Okwai by Tracy Aviary), Lisia Satini (Utah Pacific Islander Health Coalition), Tara Benally, and Jeanette Padilla (Food Justice Coalition).
