- Oct. 28: Youth-led Protest For Great Salt Lake, 11:00 a.m. at The Great Saltair, 12408 W. Saltair Dr., Magna. "Utah youth will gather on the Great Salt Lake’s dry lake bed to stage a 'countdown' demonstration and demand that state leaders take immediate action to restore the Great Salt Lake to 4,198 feet above sea level. Protestors will march to the lake with a giant clock symbolizing the urgency of the issue, and call on Utah legislators to stop wasting time. After the march, youth organizers will give a performance, demonstrating the devastating effects that losing the lake will have on their lives and futures. The event will also feature relevant and powerful art pieces created by the local community that further stress the urgency of the Great Salt Lake’s predicament. We will meet on the lake bed near the parking lot, and then march together toward the water where the demonstration will take place."
