In anticipation of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15), RadioACTive gets a visit from  and Claudia Loayza, Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs. Plus, Eduardo Baca, Consulado de México en Salt Lake City, Utah.

  • Aug. 30: Primer Concurso de Mariachi en Utah, Sones de Mariachi en Utah, 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Capitol Rotunda, Utah State Capitol, 350 N. State St., SLC. Event by Consulado de México en Salt Lake City, Utah, Utah Division of Arts and Museums and the Mexican Latino Institute of Utah: "Do you love Mexican regional music? This year we're opening Hispanic Heritage Month big. Attend next August 30th, at 6pm, at the Capitol Rotunda to support your favorite Mariachi in the first Mariachi Contest held in this state "Mariachi Sounds in Utah" and don't miss this great concert. This event is free, for the whole family, supported and promoted by the Utah State Government in conjunction with the Consulate of Mexico in Salt Lake City and sponsored by the Utah Division of Arts and Museums and the Mexican Latino Institute of Utah.   • Aug. 30: Career Fair, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Associated General Contractors, 2207 S. 1070 W., SLC. Event by Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce: "Part of the Mexican Consulate's Labor Rights Week. Job fields will include manufacturing, hospitality, engineering, advertising, multimedia technology, food and beverage, and many more. There will be free tacos, certification offerings, tabling events, a panel discussion, and a job fair. Please visit Consulado de México en Salt Lake City, Utah for more information.   • Aug. 28-Sept. 1: Labor Rights Week with Consulado de México en Salt Lake City, Utah: 

Yoga Forward's Lebogang Monageng-Goad and Denice Druce on the work they do serving both men and women in Utah prisons by offering yoga classes and yoga teacher training to inmates.

  • Sept. 8: Namastadium, 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Ken Garff University Club, SLC. Event by Yoga Forward: "Yoga on the field at the University of Utah. Yoga for all levels. Bring the kids, the neighbors, and ALL your fiends. We are raising awareness and funds for Yoga Forward, a non-profit that takes yoga into the Utah State Correctional Facility.
