Keilana Tuitupou, a local Pasifika artist and painter, shares her story, artistic creations, and upcoming art exhibit. "She began with painted pots that are filled with colorful flowers and vibrant images of Oceania headpieces. She is expanding to other creative avenues including jewelry and hand-painted hats for your decorative needs."
Stay Salty, Ep. 2: Making Love for the Lake Visible: Nan Seymour and Sarah May, poets and advocates for the Great Salt Lake, share more about Lakefacing Stories. "Great Salt Lake is an excellent place for a date. But chances are the lake herself will steal your heart. You may have seen them walking waves or dancing on the capitol steps in brine shrimp and bird costumes EVERY DAY during the Utah State legislative session this year. They also stayed with Great Salt Lake during the legislative sessions in 2023 and 2022, holding vigil and camping out on Antelope Island in the bitter cold. We talked with them in the middle of the 2024 state legislative session in February. This episode also includes date stories at Great Salt Lake and even an engagement story!"
Stay Salty: Lakefacing Stories is produced by Of Salt and Sand, which explores what it means to stay in Utah through economic transition and climate crisis by producing multimedia projects with, by, and for impacted communities. Producers: Brooke Larsen and Amelia Diehl. Hosts: Meisei Gonzalez and Olivia Juarez.
