Brother and sister Matt and Kelly LaPlante of eighteen thirty-three, a new craft mocktail bar opening just in time for the holidays and "Dry January."
- Dec. 5: Zero Proof Craft Cocktails with eighteen thirty-three, 6:33-11:00 p.m. at The Eclipse House, 1398 S. 1100 E., SLC. "Gather with us at the warm and inviting Eclipse House to experience the first drinks from eighteen thirty-three, Salt Lake's newest zero-proof craft cocktail bar. This event is an intimate soft opening with a set carte du jour of four full-pour drinks for each guest. Tasting cards will be provided so you can help guide our menu development. Only thirty tickets will be sold to ensure we can spend proper time making each cocktail while we hone our process. Proceeds will be donated to our neighbors at the Salt Lake Harm Reduction Project, which provides syringe exchange, fentanyl and xylazine test strips, HIV and Hepatitis C testing, PEP and PrEP referrals, and other resources for Salt Lake, Weber, Tooele, and Provo counties."
- About eighteen thirty-three: "We're driven by innovation, not imitation. Our zero-proof craft cocktails are not designed to be analogs of anything you’ve had before. The drinks we mix are explicitly intended to enchant, incite, and inspire. We are not moral crusaders. We are not neo-prohibitionists. You will not be judged if you happen to enjoy proof-positive drinks somewhere else. You just can’t get that here. The drinks on our menu are stories we enjoy telling again and again. But, in your hands, they are the starting place for new contemplations and fresh conversations."
Today is National Mutt Day and RadioACTive celebrates with Pepper, a kitten ready for a new home. Plus, Temma Martin of Operation Pawpulation and veterinarian Dr. Jessica Love of South Jordan-based PETCARE Animal Hospital with their holiday pet tips!
