From Utah Film Center's Black Bold & Brilliant series, Russell Roots & Aja Washington preview this month's screening:

  • March 5: Who in the Hell Is Regina Jones? *UTAH PREMIERE* The extraordinary life of SOUL Magazine publisher, Regina Jones, is one not only shaped by history, but also one that made history. From pregnant and married at 15, through the middle of the Watts Rebellion of 1965, to emerging as a groundbreaking newspaper publisher of SOUL Magazine, Regina is a testament to the American experience.

  • That lived experience, as a Black American woman raising a family of 5 children, stepping in places where she was not wanted, and navigating a world that offered her no favors, is one that is still too often overlooked. Who in the Hell is Regina Jones turns a lens on Regina’s remarkable journey – the invisible labor, the turmoil, struggle and the joy of a modern-day Black woman. This film is presented to honor Women’s History Month.

Voices Amplified: Women & Sports in Utah. Tonight, rising journalist Caitlyn Homolya introduces us to Holly Waxman, the first Utah diver and the first female member of the Utah Swim & Dive team to earn All-American status in multiple events.

  • Mar. 10-12: The Utah divers will return to Federal Way, Wash. to compete at the NCAA Diving Zones, where they will compete for a spot at the NCAA Championships.
