Community Alert: Food Justice Coalition

Jeanette Padilla Vega, FJC's President and CEO, stops by to explain federal changes to a Community Development Block Grant that require the nonprofit to verify citizenship or qualified alien status moving forward, as well as retroactively for all households served by the grant over the last 11 months. While the underlying law itself — PRWORA (the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act) — has existed since 1996, it is HUD’s interpretation and enforcement approach under the current federal administration that has changed.

  • DONATE: Every unrestricted dollar helps FJC respond with flexibility, urgency, and dignity. If you’re ready to give, you can make your tax-exempt contribution online at donorbox.org/support-fjc. To give by mailed check, donor-advised fund, ACH transfer, or another method, send an email to info@foodjusticecoalition.org.

RadioACTive with Nick @ 6: Indigenous Storytelling Campers Write, Paint, Record, Photograph Their Stories

This week, in partnership with the Marriott Library, College of Fine Arts, local radio stations, and Digital Learning Technologies,  Indigenous students have been crafting their own stories at a Storytelling Camp with the UoU's Native Outreach and College Access Program. Workshops include mural painting, photography, podcasting, bookmaking, animation, and video. The week concludes with a public "Storyfest,” showcasing student stories and fostering connections between native youth and the community. Tune in tonight as RA gets a Storyfest sneak peek.
