Friday, July 18: Punk Rock Farmer Friday serves up more true tales of the agrihood, featuring Darren Parry and students from his Indigenous Stewardship class who are planting 'Nuwuh Booheep' - Shoshone for 'Indigenous plants' - in Cache Valley. Plus, Utah Agricultural Commissioner Kelly Pehrson, The Ogdenite 1974 Bookstore SLC Skywatcher Leo T, and homegrown music from the 2025 PTA Battle of the Bands Winner, singer-songwriter Jonah Blaney.

Tonight's homegrown music: Jonah Blaney

Earlier this year, singer-songwriter Jonah Blaney made it to the annual PTA Battle of the Bands. After taking the stage with his ukulele and his "Just Dumb" song, Blaney was awarded 1st Place among solo artists. He is also working on "The Hello Album," his first. KRCL Day in the Park Preview: 1974 Bookstore SLC

Anabelle Pagett has been an independent bookseller for four years. Upon returning to SLC, she started thinking about a new model. In May, she opened 1974 Bookstore SLC — Salt Lake City's unique & only Book Bike Cart. In addition to KRCL's Day in the Park, Pagett pops up regularly all over town. New Commissioner in Town

Meet Kelly Pehrson, the new Utah Agricultural Commissioner. Pehrson worked for 12 years in San Juan County, initially as city manager in Monticello and then most recently as county chief administrative officer. Prior to that, he worked in the banking industry for 10 years.

Aldine's Urban Farm Report with Nuwuh Booheep

KRCL's Punk Rock Farmer talks with Darren Parry and Sterling Brinkerhoff, a student from Parry's Indigenous Stewardship class at USU, about a garden of native, edible plants they are creating at Stokes Nature Center in Cache Valley. Parry is the former chair of the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation, a tribe that has called the area home since before Mormon pioneers settled there.
