Next Wednesday (9/10): Pedal the Parkway Week 2 | 6:30-8 PM @ Sheilds Lane, South Jordan, and bike to Big Bend Restoration Area. Week 2 hosted by the commission, in partnership with Bike Utah and Wasatch Adaptive Sports, two groups who will be bringing bikes sized for kids in 4th-6th grade, some adult bikes, and explaining bike safety.

Earlier today, the Utah Office of Homeless Services and the Utah Homeless Services Board announced a contractual agreement for the state to acquire land for the development of a comprehensive, transformative homeless services campus— the first of its kind in Utah. State Sen. Luz Escamilla (D-Dist. 10, Salt Lake County) and Rep. Sandra Hollins (D-Dist. 21, SLC), in whose district the new site falls, talk to RadioACTive about the selection process and what comes next.
Ashley Brown, Program Support Specialist of Utah Every Kid Outdoors Adventure Challenge, on the free, year-long outdoor program for youth ages 5–18. Designed by the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation, the challenge encourages kids and families to explore nature, learn new skills, and complete fun monthly activities across all four seasons. Local hiking expert Ashley Brown, author of Urban Trails: Salt Lake City, shares the hike of the week and checks in with the hiking team of Jennie Astill and Jo Leak of Team Sassy Pants / Izzy Bears Fanny Pack Posse. Jennie is a childhood cancer mom and mother of 4, married to Dave, the man of her wildest dreams. She's been fundraising for CureSearch since her daughter Izzy's diagnosis at age four, and loves hiking, yoga, paddleboarding, and working to bring better treatment to kids fighting cancer.
Sept. 6: Hike of the Week: 2025 Salt Lake City Walk | 9 AM at Sugar House Park - Big Field Pavilion. A benefit for CureSearch for Children’s Cancer. Join families, survivors to honor every child affected by cancer and raise research funds for safer, less toxic treatments for kids.

Their team is excited to trek 18 miles this year to end children’s cancer by raising critical funds that will support innovative research for safer, less toxic treatments for children."
The Jordan River Commission is celebrating 15 years of collaboration with a broad coalition to enhance the Jordan River and its surrounding lands and watershed.
