RadioACTive shines a light on good trouble makers, including student journalist Elle Crossley, Men's Healing Founder Sam Katz, NAMI Utah's Robin Holcomb, and the debut of 'Take a Hike' -- your midweek reminder to get outdoors and explore the hiking trails along the Wasatch.

Outdoor Living Room Sessions later this week with artist Matthew Mazzotta will help shape public art on SLC's West Side, specifically at the new Glendale Regional Park (former Raging Waters site). SLC Art Council Public Art Program Manager Renato Olmedo-Gonzalez explains.

Put on those walking shoes for a good cause. Robin Holcomb, Interim Director of NAMI Utah, stops by to talk about the state of mental wellness and a community walk that does something about it.

RadioACTive's Valene MC debuts Take a Hike, a new Wednesday feature to help get you out the door and onto the hiking trails. Joining her, Ashley Brown, author of Urban Trails Salt Lake City: Salt Lake Valley, Trans-City Routes, Millcreek, Cottonwoods.

  • Lifelong Utah resident Ashley Brown hails from Pleasant Grove and spent her childhood playing in the foothills of Mount Timpanogos. Wilderness conservation is a crucial component in how she writes and recreates—walking, hiking, and running in the mountains for rejuvenation. Her writing has appeared in a variety of Utah-based travel and outdoor publications, including Utah Adventure Journal, Park City Magazine, Town- Lift, PCStyle Magazine, and Neighbors of Park City Magazine.

Marcie Young Cancio of Amplify Utah and student journalist Elle Crossley. Young Cancio's students at the University of Utah have been reporting on Utah women in sports. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. RadioACTive talks with Sam Katz of Men Healing, a nonprofit that provides healing resources for men, age 18 and older, who have experienced sexual harm during childhood and/or as adults. They also provide resources for loved ones and allies of men who are survivors of sexual harm.

  • April 27: Courage to Create, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Westminster University's Gillmor Hall, 1840 S. 1300 E., SLC. "A one-night-only survivor art showcase + fundraiser featuring the play 'Bonded,' hosted by MenHealing! We are one of the only nonprofits in the country providing dedicated resources for men who've experienced sexual harm & their loved ones. Please join us online or in person to support our talented community of survivor artists, and to experience an unforgettable evening of art, storytelling, vulnerability, and men healing in community, together. Following the play will be a brief panel discussion featuring several of the evening’s artists—all survivors themselves who’ve found community and healing through our one-of-a-kind programs—about their storytelling and journey to recovery. This event is hybrid."
