Blood & Myth

KRCL's Valene MC attended high school with Iñupiaq writer, musician, and now filmmaker James Dommek Jr., whose new true-crime series, Blood & Myth, is now streaming on Hulu. Based on Dommek’s podcast, Midnight Son, it's a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system.

  • ABOUT: "After a series of shocking, violent crimes shatter a remote native village in Northern Alaska, one man embarks on a journey to investigate a terrifying paranormal connection. A haunting true-crime documentary, 'Blood & Myth' is ultimately a tale about identity, American dreams, and the dangers of veering too far from one’s home."

Meet the DJ: Leah Swenson, Co-Host of KRCL's Living the Circle of Life

Like many DJs on KRCL, Leah Swenson started as a guest. She reached out to LTCOL Host Dave John to share the work of Navajo Strong, a nonprofit created to aid the Navajo community during the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis. Then there was more in the community she wanted to talk about, and Dave, recognizing that the radio bug had bitten, invited her to shadow him and start talking more on the air. When Valene MC stepped back from the show, Leah stepped up.

Leah's Meet the DJ Playlist:

  1. Alone, Hale Street Brothers
  2. Come & Get Your Love, Redbone
  3. Mash It Up, Tha Yoties
  4. NDN Kars, Keith Secola
  5. Kikāwiynaw (Remember Me), Fawn Wood
  6. We the People, Sihasin
