Red Cross of Utah issues "Giving Challenge" to raise $1 million for Hurricane Helene relief by the weekend. Michael Smauldon of the American Red Cross of Northern Utah and Southwest Wyoming explains.

South Salt Lake City's Joseph Dane on Craftoberfest happening this Saturday. Plus, fresh and homegrown music from Gorgeous Gourds, which headlines the festival celebrating artists, crafters, and makers.

  • Oct. 5: Craftoberfest, 12:00-5:00 p.m. on Oakland Ave. (2460 S.) between Main St. and West Temple, South Salt Lake. Event by South Salt Lake Arts Council: "A celebration of South Salt Lake's creative community, featuring local food, brew and cocktails, live music, art vendors, interactive art activities, and more.  You get to engage with creatives in the heart of the South Salt Lake Creative Industries Zone. Craftoberfest also features custom barrels and kegs hand-painted by local artists in collaboration with community breweries and distilleries." FREE and open to the public.

Ignite Utah aims to mobilize Utah's youth vote. IU's Stephanie Mahina and Jakey Siolo talk about knocking on doors and voter registration drives with their peers, Millennials and Gen Z. 

  • Oct. 10: G2K: Get to Know your West-Side Candidates: Millennial Mixer and Gen Z After-Party, 6:00-10:00 p.m. at Utah Creative Arts Foundation, 960 W. LeVoy Dr., Taylorsville. Event by Ignite! Utah, a program of the Utah Donor Collaborative: "Join us for a fun-filled evening at the Utah Creative Arts Foundation (UCAF). This event is all about connecting with West-side candidates and current legislators. Get ready for a Millennial Mixer where you can chat with the candidates and learn about their platforms. Drinks will be served. Food provided by Soul Haus catering. After that, stick around for the Gen Z After-Party where the energy will be high and the conversations lively. Don't miss out on this opportunity to engage with the future leaders of your community!"

Aimed at promoting transparency and nonpartisan evaluations of judges for voters, the Utah Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission (JPEC) is launching 2024 updates to its judges.utah.gov website. RadioACTive talks with JPEC’s Mary-Margaret Pingree for the details.
