Dec. 21: Food Justice Coalition Community Outreach Day, 1:00 p.m. on the southwest corner of Pioneer Park, 350 S. 300 W., SLC. "Join us for a community outreach day to serve unsheltered neighbors and families facing hunger. We will give out nutritious meals, clothing, beverages, and other resources from one central location at Pioneer Park on the SOUTH WEST CORNER. The temperatures are dropping so we will be distributing blankets, clothing, hot healthy meals, hot coffee and more. Please bring any gently used clothing, shoes, tents, or other survival gear you’d like to donate or consider donating to our Venmo: @foodjusticecoalition. We will be outdoors, please dress weather-appropriate. This event is open to all participants 16+."
Dec. 25: Food Justice Coalition 5th Annual FREE Christmas Dinner for Individuals and Families in Need, 3:00-5:00 p.m. at SLC Buddhist Temple, 211 W. 100 S., SLC. "We are gearing up to prepare our annual Christmas dinner for individuals and families facing homelessness and food insecurity. The menu will include a delicious and nutritious meal. Folks can select from the following menu items: three-bean chili, jalapeño cornbread with maple butter glaze, collard greens, red lentil curry with basmati rice, sesame green beans (gomae), fresh fruit, hot cider, a hot cocoa bar & water. To-go options will be available as well. All food is plant-based and halal. This is open to ALL in the community.
