RMCR: Hear Voices from Saturday’s Rally to Save NCAR

On Saturday, hundreds of people gathered outside the offices of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, known as NOAA, in Boulder, CO. They were protesting a move by the Trump Administration that could close the National Center for Atmospheric Research, or N-CAR. As KGNU's Don Davis reports for Rocky Mountain Community Radio, the rally drew scientists, community members, and local and state elected officials concerned about the future of climate research.

  • This report was shared with us via Rocky Mountain Community Radio, a network of public media stations in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and Utah, including KRCL.

Music Meets Activism with Leo

Leonardo, known to his friends as Leo, is a 13-year-old bass player, artist, and LGBTQ+ activist. Oh, and he's trans-masc. Tune in to find out more about his life in SLC and to hear his playlist of songs about being trans and what being trans feels like.

  • From Leo: "A lot of people out there are kind of, they're on the edge with the Trans thing. They want to support it, but they also don't really understand it. And that's the one thing I gotta say is, we don't need you to understand it fully. It's all just respect, that's what we want, that's the only thing we need. We just want respect and to be treated like any other human. I think that's all that needs to happen."

Leo's MMA Playlist:

  • Went on T | Um, Jennifer?
  • I Want to Be a Boy | Addison Grace
  • Girl Class | Um, Jennifer?
  • This Is Home | Cavetown
  • Nvr Pass | She/Her/Hers
  • Wrecking Ball | Mother Mother
  • I Exist I Exist I Exist | Flatsound
  • Freaks | Surf Curse
