The Black, Bold and Brilliant team is back to preview its next gathering, the Black Food Edition. Friday Night Fall Out Xmas Drive. Plus, Utah Poet Michael McLane on FUME, a Midwest Chapbook Winner.

Friday Night Fall Out's Keith McDonald stopped by to talk about an xmas drive in the community, sponsored by Uprok & Artspace. Drive runs through Dec. 22. All donations will go to The Road Home Family Shelter. 

  • ITEMS NEEDED: Towels, hygiene items, baby wipes, bottles, adult underwear, detergent, twin size sheets, can openers, kitchen and bathroom basics.

  • Dec. 14: Black, Bold & Brilliant, the Black Food Edition, 7:00 p.m. at The City Library - Nancy Tessman Auditorium, 210 E. 400 S., SLC. Event by Utah Film Center: "Featuring a roundtable discussion with local members of the Black food makers community. Your Grandmother did it; your Aunties and Mothers did it. Now you’re continuing the tradition. The artistry and influence of culturally Black foods is unmistakable in the United States. The Black, Bold & Brilliant team is loosening our belt to discuss all things good in the hood this holiday season! The Salt Lake area has seen a delicious increase of Black food establishments across the valley, from brick-and-mortar restaurants to food trucks, and everything else in between. Kick back with us and feed your soul with this rousing roundtable discussion." FREE but an RSVP is preferred

Utah Poet Michael McLane, who is currently a PhD candidate in Creative Writing at the International Institute of Modern Letters at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand. He's in town for a visit and stopped by RadioACTive for an update and to share a few poems from his latest publication, FUME, winner of the Midwest Chapbook Contest. McLane holds BAs in both English and Anthropology from the University of Utah, and MFA in Creative Writing from Colorado State University, an MS in Environmental Humanities from the University of Utah.
