Ian Zabarte, Principal Man and Secretary of State, Western Band of the Shoshone Nation, was in town last week for an event with HEAL Utah to honor communities affected by nuclear fallout. He stopped by RadioACTive to connect the dots between nuclear testing and Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument.
WATCH: Downwind, now live on most major streaming platforms. Released earlier this year at the Slamdance Film Festival, Downwind chronicles the nuclear testing that happened in Mercury, Nevada where 928 nuclear weapons were detonated between 1951 - 1992. Features members of the Shoshone Nation and people who were affected by the radioactive fallout of those tests. Narrated by Martin Sheen.
