All month long, RadioACTive is spinning a new series, Music Meets Activism. Each night we talk to grassroots activists, community builders, punk rock farmers and DIY creatives about what and why they do what they do, and serve up their own playlist to match.

  • NOMINATE: Who would you like to hear from? Send an email to radioactive@krcl.org that includes their name, contact info and the reason why you think they should join us for MMA. Bonus points if you send a voice memo we can share on the air, too!

Tonight on RadioACTive's Music Meets Activism series: Bernie Hart and Mere of Understanding Us - SLC Street Tai Chi. The non-profit organization helps unsheltered community members, with its primary program the largest operating community tai chi group in the state of Utah.

  • SLC Street Tai Chi meets at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday outside the Salt Lake City Public Library, 210 E. 400 S., SLC. All that is required is that you show up and participate in any way you can. Tai chi is led by individuals who are currently experiencing homelessness or have experienced homelessness in the past. 

  • Volunteer: SLC Street Tai Chi is a very small non-profit that is predominantly run by the efforts of volunteers. To read about more specific areas and ways to volunteer, click here
