  • Mar. 11: Living Soils Social and Screening of Common Ground, 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Brewvies Cinema Pub, 677 S. 200 W., SLC, 21+. Event by The Utah Food Coalition: "Join us to kick off our Living Soils Summit week with an educational (45 min) screening of Common Ground + local food community social. Doors + social @ 6pm, screening @ 7pm, local food and farmer intros social @ 7:45p."

  • Mar. 14-15: Living Soils Summit: Remedies for our Land, Food System and Community @ Sorenson Unity Center and The City Library. "The Living Soils Summit will bring together farmers, gardeners, soil scientists, environmental stakeholders, ecologists and food activists to discuss building healthy soils for healthy communities. This event is supported by the Utah Soil Health Partnership, the Utah Food Coalition, the Living Soils Collective, the SLC Main Library, and the Sorenson Unity Center. Friday's event is at capacity. Please email utahfoodcoalition@gmail.com if you'd like to be added to the waitlist and we'll notify you if spots open up."

  • Mar. 15: Seed Swap at The City Library, 210 E. 400 S., SLC. Event by The Plot at The City Library: "Bring seeds to share, pick up free seeds from our Seed Library and partners, and join in on fun garden crafts & activities for all ages. Or go deeper with the Living Soils Summit!"

  • Mar. 15: Trash Moon Collective and the Living Soils Summit Present: Dirt Dance, 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Church & State, 370 S. 300 E., SLC. "Celebrate the Spring Equinox and a season of healthy soils with Square Dancing! Whether you're attending the Living Soils Summit for the weekend, a square-curious dancer, a lover of old time, or you're just looking for something fun and wholesome to do with your family, come to the Dirt Dance."

#ManyCulturesOneSky with SkyWatchers Tina T & Leo T, sharing their love of the night sky, cultural tales of the constellations, poetry and more.

Amy May of Tree Utah, a nonprofit that works with students, municipalities, local businesses, community groups, and volunteers to plant trees in public spaces throughout the state. 

  • Mar. 8: Mulch Madness at Sugar House Park, 1:00 p.m. at Sugar House Park, Fabian Lakeside Pavilion, SLC. "Volunteer with TreeUtah at Sugar House Park to remove grass and add mulch rings around 35 trees that will be part of the future Sugar House Park Arboretum! We will bring all the tools necessary. We ask that you wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and all the layers necessary to stay comfortable in the day's weather. We also recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to fill at our water station. So we know to expect you, please fill out our Volunteer Form. This event was made possible in part by YOU through Salt Lake County Zoo, Arts, and Parks."

Symbria & Sara Patterson of Red Acre Center, a non-profit that advocates for a stronger local food economy & opportunities for the general public to understand food production. Aldine's Urban Farm Report, featuring Red Butte Garden's Cultivating Wisdom & Wonder series. Later this month, Zebith Thalden, author of The Insect Artist, will be in town. 

  • Mar. 19: Zebith Thalden - Cultivating Wisdom & Wonder Speaker Series, 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Red Butte Garden, 300 Wakara Way, SLC. Event by Red Butte Garden: "Discover the beauty of nature through the art of illustration! Join Zebith Thalden for an inspiring talk that celebrates discovery, creativity, and biodiversity. Through careful observation, illustration allows us to see the natural world in a whole new way—revealing the intricate anatomy of a bee, the delicate patterns on a caterpillar, or the shimmering iridescence of a butterfly. In this engaging presentation, Zebith shares how art can be a powerful tool for learning, connection, and environmental awareness. Space is limited. Tickets required."

  • Mar. 20: Explore Nature Illustration with author and illustrator Zebith Thalden, 9:30a-1:30p at Red Butte Garden. "Sign up for a hands-on workshop with Zebith Thalden and dive in to the world of nature illustration. Thalden is a professional artist who encourages artistic empowerment, kinship with the natural world, ecological stewardship, and a sense of wonder. Her artwork has been featured in the CICA Museum in Gimpo-si, South Korea; the Academy of Science in Canberra, Australia; and the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, D.C. She received an MFA from Goddard College and a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. She was also invited through artist residencies to study at Zion National Park and PLAYA, Center for the Intersection of Art and Science." Tickets = $75.
