Meet pinata artist Clara Amezcua, who shares the origin story of the craft. Plus, Spice on 9th foodtrepreneurs Prime Corn and Namash Swahili Cuisine invite you to a samosa and empanada tasting.

  • Dec. 14: Posada Tradicional, 12:00-3:00 p.m. at The Leonardo, 209 E. 500 S., SLC. "We invite you to celebrate one of the most beloved Mexican traditions with Artes de México en Utah, the Consulado de México in Salt Lake City and The Leonardo Museum. The piñata: a symbol that identifies Mexico in the world. At this inn, you'll learn about the true meaning of piñatas and have the chance to make your own! Immerse yourself in the cultural richness of Mexico and discover how these traditions fuse pre-Hispanic elements with influences from colonization."

The International Rescue Committee in Salt Lake City (IRC-SLC) is trying something new: Spice on 9th Restaurants-in-Residence Program. RadioACTive talks with IRC-SLC's Emily Park and foodtrepreneurs Wendy Juarez of Prime Corn and Najati Abdalla of Namash Swahili Cuisine.

  • Dec. 10: Spice on 9th Empanada and Samosa Tasting, 6:00 p.m. at 422 W. 900 S., SLC. "Experience a delightful fusion of flavors with our Samosas & Empanadas Tasting event.   • Dec. 17: Spice on 9th Kimchi Class, 6:00 p.m. at 422 W. 900 S., SLC. "Discover the authentic Korean flavors and health benefits of Kimchi in our hands-on class.
