Look for GenderfuQ founder Sofia Scott of Shecock with a Vengeance on stage at the new SLC-Pride (6/29) and this year's Utah Arts Festival (6/30).
- June 27: GenderfuQ, 6:00-10:00 p.m. at Sugar Space Arts Warehouse, 132 S. 800 W., SLC. "Join us for Utah’s premier queer pride kick-off party, where you are encouraged to challenge gender norms and stereotypes while enjoying performances from talented, local trans and gender-non-conforming performers. Started by Rock Princess, Sofia Scott, Genderfuq began as an event on the margins of pride festivals to give trans rock performers a place to showcase their talents. Now it’s a main event. If you haven’t attended in prior years, don’t make that mistake again! Hosted by Sammee St. James and Mona Diet, this all-ages event will feature concessions for purchase, a queer market, and an amazing line-up of musicians and drag stars you don’t want to miss. If you are QTBIPOC, don’t even bother buying a ticket, because you get in free. For everyone else, tickets are only $5 for 17 and under and $10 for adults. To avoid the pesky event fees from the ticketing vendor, tickets will be available for purchase at the venue. So put the date on your calendar and start choosing your outfit, because you will find no better place to start the party for SLC-Pride’s inaugural festival than Genderfuq. Hope to see you there!" The Utah Farmer Guilds of Red Acre Center are growing. RadioACTive spoke with Guilds Manager TK Kern, Central UT Guild leader Mariana Bills, and Northern UT Guild leader Chase Campbell. To join or start one in your area, click here.
- What's a Guild? "Guilds are agricultural communities founded by farmers for farmers who come together to share skills, resources, and knowledge, socialize, network, build lasting relationships, and stay informed on current local food and agriculture policies. Whether you are a seasoned farmer with years of growing under your belt or are a new and upcoming farm, homesteader, artisan producer, chef, or food business, you have something to offer and gain by belonging to a Guild."
