Jason Rabb of Hear Utah Music, aka HUM, stopped by with several new songs recently added to the Salt Lake City Public Library's local music collection.

  • HUM offers free streaming access to a curated collection of local music available to everyone, with downloads available to Salt Lake City Public Library cardholders. For additional information, visit the Frequently Asked Questions page, or email the HUM team: humteam@slcpl.org.

  • HUM SUBMISSIONS now open thru Feb. 22: "The HUM call is for music made in Utah in the last 5 years. We pay local musicians $200 for albums ($100 for EPs) that are selected to be a part of the HUM collection. Local artists can submit their music using this online submission form: https://hum.slcpl.org/submit. This year's jury includes: HUM artist and community activist Lizzy Luna; SLUG Magazine writer Asha Pruitt; KUAA dj and Diabolical Records shop owner, Adam Tye."

Gregg Batt of the Ogden Seed Exchange, a non-profit organization founded solely for free and public education and interest in selecting, growing, saving, and sharing heirloom and other open-pollinated quality seeds.

  • Feb. 17: Ogden Seed Swap 2024, 10a-1p at Ogden Preparatory Academy, 1415 Lincoln Ave., Ogden. "Come and join us for an amazing seedy event at our 14th Annual Seed Swap. Visit local seed vendors and gardening experts, share and swap seeds with local seed savers. You do not have to bring your own seeds to participate. There will also be activities for adults and kids, two breakout sessions and raffle prizes. Admission is free. Share this event with your friends and family. Please note the following: We welcome only locally grown and saved seeds at this event to promote seed saving. This includes our general bio-region, such as southern Idaho."

Aldine's Urban Farm Report digs into the dirt of Wasatch Community Gardens' new forever farm in the Glendale Neighborhood of SLC. Through a conservation easement with the landowner and Utah Open Lands, WCG will be producing vegetables on the 2.5-acre site in perpetuity. Featuring:
