Loud & Clear Takeover. The impact of anti-trans legislation on the local community, from a youth perspective:

Part 1: Nick Arteaga and Ellie Menlove from ACLU Utah share information about current anti-trans legislation and the impact they have observed it has had on the community. If you would like to listen to the full conversation (31 minutes), you can find it here.

Here is a list of local resources that Nick and Ellie shared for trans folks looking for support and community:

  • Project Rainbow - Project Rainbow empowers and uplifts LGBTQ+ individuals throughout Utah by fostering visibility, promoting inclusivity, and providing crucial support through its Community Fund.

  • Genderbands - Whether you want to transition surgically, medically, socially, or not transition at all, Genderbands is here to support you in any way they can.

  • Under the Umbrella Bookstore - Under the Umbrella Bookstore is your local queer bookstore. No other bookstore in the area specifically caters to the queer community, providing a safe space for queer folks of all ages to congregate and celebrate their stories. We share queer stories from around the world and highlight the talents and insights of local and international members of this community. Masks are required in the store. You can find their events calendar here.
