Listeners Community Radio of Utah is bringing the community closer and developing future audiences on-air and, now, in person.
The KRCL Next Generation is a capital campaign to expand the westside headquarters while creating a “third space" for the community. This updated KRCL facility will feature an all-ages performance hall for up to 200 guests indoors, an outdoor plaza, art gallery, three production studios, and more. The KRCL Next Generation campaign will increase access for both existing members and younger audiences, elevate creators, and grow revenue for KRCL from space rentals, ticket sales, and events. The new space is set to open in 2027.
Since launching in 1979, KRCL has united people across generations and backgrounds who are passionate about a wide range of music genres and diverse perspectives. Nearly 50 years later, KRCL continues to connect and nourish local culture from an expanded studio at 300 North and 500 West.
In 2021, KRCL retrofitted an existing building with new studios, offices, common areas, and a live band room to record on-air performances. Now, the station is set to open its doors to the Utah community. The final phase of this ambitious vision will expand the space, allowing KRCL to become a vibrant hub for incubation of live music, visual arts, and civic engagement.
KRCL’s new all-ages hall will be the beating heart of a rapidly growing neighborhood where artists and musicians can live, practice, and perform. KRCL will open its doors to become Utah's newest independent venue. Young people from communities across our broadcast area will have access to an all-ages space with expanded studio capacity, training opportunities, hands-on learning, and frequent recording sessions.
Within the first year expect live broadcasts, concerts by local and touring musicians, art exhibits, record sales, lectures and dialogs, benefit events, and unique rentals.
It’s an opportunity to increase connection in real life, helping new audiences discover KRCL, while replacing doomscrolling with uplifting human interaction.
