KRCL celebrated International Women's Day March 8, 2018 with a rally at the Utah State Capitol in Salt Lake City. The Amplifying Women's Voices rally was broadcast live on 90.9fm KRCL with support from The State Room and happened to fall on the final day of the Utah State Legislative session.
Guest speakers Catherine Weller, League of Women Voters of Utah; Jenn Christensen, Better Days 2020; Leslie Henderson, Utah Women of Color Council; Meher Ayesha, Global Chamber of Commerce SLC; Davina Smith, Utah Dine Bikeyah; Sue Robbins, Transgender Education Advocates of UT; Ma Black, KRCL’s RadioActive; Mayra Cedano, Comunidades Unidas; Sadie Ortiz, Planned Parenthood Teen Council; Karrie Galloway, Planned Parenthood Action Council of Utah; Marina Gomberg, Equality Utah; and Psarah Johnson, Disabled Rights Action Committee inspired the crowd and the band Lucuis' music personified the sentiment of the day: to amplify women's voices and encourage women to vote and run for public office.
