SXSW is going virtual this year, which means that the music festival portion of the famed music, film, and comedy festival will create a unique opportunity for attendees to experience a live performance.

While nothing can really compare to the energy exchange between performer and audience in person, the festival's music performances offer a voyeuristic approach to watching the performers through access to venues around the world. Some location highlights include a Norwegian cable car, Abbey Road Studios, a Brazilian greenhouse cafe;, and a Taoist temple -- and those are just what's previewed on the SXSW website.

The music fest features a dizzying amount of musical showcases, which are performances curated by SXSW in collaboration with record labels, PR companies, booking agents ... you get the gist. Musical showcases happen March 16-20 from 1:30-9:00 p.m. MST. There is also a slew of panels and discussions to tune into, many of which feature conversations and collaborations between musicians. In addition to the showcase performances there are keynote speakers and folk legend and SXSW frequent visitor, Willie Nelson, is slated to speak as one of this year's keynotes.

In short, there is a lot of music to discover this year. Attending the festival behind the screen of a device is sure to allow for experiencing much more music than in person.
