Franque Bains, poet and founder of Utahn Convos, cues The Gap Band for our #songsofsummer playlist and invites you to a mural party. Plus, a COVID update -- it ain't pretty, folks -- from the Utah Department of Health.

Franque Bains, founder of Utahn Convos, added "Outstanding" by The Gap Band to our #songsofsummer playlist. Songs of Summer Hotline: 385-800-1889.

Utahn Convos began facilitating community conversations about anti-racism in the wake of George Floyd’s murder last year. That work — "asking how can this time of pain become an opportunity for community healing" — has led to a new community mural in collaboration with UC participants, artist Blondine Jean-Packard and Patagonia SLC

  • July 10: Conversations With Salt Lake City Artist Blondine Jean-Packard, 12:00-3:00 p.m. at Patagonia SLC, 2292 S. Highland Dr., SLC. "Created for the community of Salt Lake City in celebration of Black joy. The mural commemorates a project called Utahn Conversations which was developed last year in light of the murder of George Floyd. Utahn Conversations is a communal project that provides support and tools for folks to step into the role of host, and have critical conversations that create change and build safety for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ identifying bodies in our communities. Please join us to learn more about the artist, Blondine Jean-Packard, the project, and ways you can bring these conversations to your community.” To reserve your spot for this event, click here
