Volunteering opportunities and upcoming events:
Girl Scout Outreach Leaders: The Girl Scouts of Utah Outreach Program provides these troops at sites throughout Salt Lake City and West Valley for girls who might not be able to participate without council sponsorship, and it's only possible with volunteers like you. Most sites only require 1-2 hours of time each week during after-school hours and we ask a minimum commitment of 8 weeks. We encourage you to recruit a friend to be a co-leader with you. This program provides membership, training, curriculum and swag. If you're interested or have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us! Please email to outreach@gsutah.org
Tutoring Volunteers Wanted: Project Read is a one-on-one tutoring service for functionally illiterate adults in Utah Country and changes lives by empowering individuals, strengthening families, and building communities. Project Read is looking for volunteer tutors within Utah county. Our office is located at the Provo Library but tutoring can take place in any public location. We ask our volunteer tutors to commit a minimum of 6 hours per week for 6 months. If you want to help our adult learners gain the literacy skills they need to make positive changes to their lives, visit our website at projectreadutah.org or call us at 801-448-7323.
Utah Food Bank: Often when people think about donating to a food bank, their first inclination is to host a Food Drive, or participate in one of the major food drives. There are a multitude of ways to help, and we urge you to consider all of your giving options: Host a food drive, create a virtual food drive, or donate to your local pantry. For a list of drop off location, click here. When donating food, a general rule of thumb, is to donate things that you would also purchase for your family.
