The Dispensary, Square Kitchen SLC -- More than Food, Plus Excellence in Education and Chapman Library Turns 100

David Heiblim of The Dispensary on food as medicine and conscious entrepreneurism. He brought with him three people with whom The Dispensary is collaborating:
- Liberty Valentine, Ctybyrd Cafe
- Moudi Sbeity, Laziz Kitchen, which hosts the Culinary Celebration of New Americans on May 14. CLICK HERE for tickets. Proceeds will benefit the upcoming Saffron Kitchen Project by the Utah Refugee Education & Training Center, a non-profit space dedicated to helping underserved youth and refugees develop a commercial kitchen skills to take them into the professional culinary world
- A.J. Collette, Flourish Bakery
Ana Valdemoros and Tham Soekotjo of Square Kitchen SLC, a culinary incubator kitchen now open on SLC’s west side.
- In addition to running Square Kitchen, Valdemoros owns Argentina's Best Empanadas Salt Lake City and Soekotjo’s food truck is Comfort Bowl
Chapman Branch, Salt Lake City Public Library turns 100 this year. RadioActive talked with Branch Manager Mary Anne Heider and Michael Evans, a writer and photographer whose story on the west side branch library appears in the latest edition of The West View community newspaper.
- Evans is the featured speaker at this Saturday’s Chapman Chat: Free Public Libraries - Windows on a Wider World at 2 p.m.
The Huntsman Family recently recognized 11 educators for excellence, including special education teacher Jason Tackett. RadioActive caught up with Tackett, who uses mindfulness and other techniques to help children learn.
