The Boys Ranch plays live, M Bakeshop and Spice Kitchen debut a KRCL cake, and Sidewalk Talk SLC’s listening project

Tonight's lineup:

Live music from The Boys Ranch, which they say "sounds like looking through the lens of a Millennial in the early 60s." RadioACTive got a preview of the band's new single, "Mexicola," which they will release July 4.

Bridging cultures one cake at a time with Spice Kitchen Incubator's Kate Idzorek and Michaela Stern of M Cuisine and Bakeshop. Check out Michaela's KRCL cake:

If you go to the Downtown SLC Farmers Market at Pioneer Park on Saturdays, look for Michaela's booth on the 400 West side of the park. She's offering meringues but will happily take your custom cake order. Tell her KRCL sent you!

  • Spice (Supporting the Pursuit of Innovative Culinary Entrepreneurs) Kitchen Incubator is a project of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Salt Lake City. It is a business incubator that brings together refugees and other disadvantaged community members interested in starting a full or part-time food business. Applications to become a Spice Kitchen Entrepreneur Chef are accepted on an ongoing basis. Click here to apply.

Recreational therapist Danika Rogers sets up Sidewalk Talk SLC once a month in the atrium of the main Salt Lake City Public Library. She simply invites passers-by to have a seat and share what is weighing down their hearts and minds. RadioACTive talked with her about deep listening and what it can do for individuals and a community.

  • July 21: Sidewalk Talk SLC, 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the atrium of the main Salt Lake City Public Library.  The model is simple: two chairs and an invitation to be heard for 10 minutes. Volunteers listen to anyone about anything. Some share stories of joy and clarity, others share their pain and confusion. No advice offered. Just heart-felt listening.
  • To join the listening team visit https://www.sidewalktalksf.com and click “Get involved” to register as a member and take the listener training.
