Full Medicaid Expansion Now rally, field trip to Bear River, Flutopia plays it forward, foodtrepreneur Chef Vini, Animalia

Stacy Stanford, health policy analyst at Utah Health Policy Project, explained how the Trump Administration's denial of the latest Utah Medicaid waiver should trigger the SB96 backup plan and something closer to the voter-approved Prop 3.

  • Aug. 1: Full Medicaid Expansion Now rally, 4:30 p.m. at the Utah State Capitol Rotunda, calling on Utahns to show up and send a message to state lawmakers to quickly implement the full Medicaid expansion backup plan they passed into law as part of SB96, now that their partial expansion waiver was rejected.

A donation of $10 is recommended to join the Aug. 10th field trip. 

Thousands of flutists are headed to SLC this weekend for the 47th Annual National Flute Association Convention. One of many concerts will be given by The Flutopia Initiative. RadioACTive got a preview from Flutopia founder/organizer Dr. Cathy Collinge Herrera; Sally Humphreys, who plays flute/piccolo with the Ballet West Orchestra and also performs regularly with the Utah Symphony and teaches at Westminster College; and Fourth Street Clinic's Laurel Ingham.

Spotlight on Spice Kitchen Incubator, featuring foodtrepreneur Chef Vini of Cafe India SLC and SKI's Jackie Rodabaugh. Throughout the month of August, the walls of Urban Arts Gallery - Utah Arts Alliance will be adorned with art celebrating the diverse beauty of animal life on Earth. RadioACTive got a preview with gallery manager Scott Tuckfield and artists Todd Powelson, Ruchi Soni and Jessica Douglas. 

  • Aug. 6-Sept. 1: Animalia: Wild Animals in the City @ Urban Arts Gallery, 116 S. Rio Grande St., SLC. This exhibit features 26 local artists, exploring the animal kingdom in a wide range of styles and techniques. The result is a fascinating, colorful, and inspiring collection of beautiful artworks for the whole family. Gallery stroll reception August 16, 6:00-9:00 p.m.
  • Aug. 9: Connect at Urban Arts Gallery, 6:30-9:00 p.m. Do you know an artist who needs to share their work? Connect is the FREE event where every artist can show their work. It’s easy!
