Live, homegrown music from Machines of Man, a five-piece Progressive Metal band based in SLC.

Pioneer Justice League staged a direct action in the gallery of the Utah House of Representatives earlier today. Rev. Monica Dobbins of First Unitarian Church of Salt Lake City, Rev. Curtis Price of First Baptist Church, Pastor David Nichols of Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, and Billy Palmer, in his role with the Utah Poor People's Campaign, shared their experiences and goals of their social justice work.

Plan-B Theatre artistic director Jerry Rapier brought in Dee-Dee Darby-Duffin and Chris Curlett, whose plays-in-progress will get a public reading this weekend. The actors-turned-playwrights developed their work as part of Plan-B’s Theatre Artists of Color Writing Workshop.

  • Feb. 10: The 10th Annual Edward Lewis Theatre Festival, 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the downtown Salt Lake City Public Library, 210 E. 400 S., SLC. Featuring GUISE by Chris Curlett and DoLs by Dee-Dee Darby-Duffin (Plan-B Theatre), as well as works from Wasatch Theatre Company), University of Utah Department of Theatre, and Canary Down the Mine. Edward R. Lewis was a local pioneer in modern African American theatre.

#UrbanFarmReport, featuring:

  • Aldine, KRCL’s Punk Rock Farmer, and Red Acre Center’s Symbria and Sara Patterson reported on Farm-to-Fork Day on Utah’s Capitol Hill
  • Heather Griffiths of Wasatch Blooms, an urban flower farm in SLC. She is considering starting is part of the slow-flower movement. Griffiths is offering a workshop on cutting flower gardening. Deadline to sign up is Feb. 18. Click here for more details.
