  • Emily Walsh, League of Women Voters of Utah, recap of Day 11 of 45. Walsh said the League supports HB12 Family Planning Services Amendments and an appropriations ranking in the top 3. The Social Services Appropriations Subcommittee meets at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning to prioritize requests, including HB12

  • Ashley Soltysiak of the Utah Chapter of the Sierra Club reported on several bills the nonprofit is following this legislative session. 

    • Public Meetings: Feb. 5 in Salt Lake City and Feb. 6 in Ogden, FRIENDS of Great Salt Lake, Utah Sierra Club, HEAL Utah, Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment, residents and business owners from Box Elder County, and organizing partner the Great Salt Lake Institute will be hosting two public information meetings to discuss Promontory Point Resources, LLC Landfill and its application with the State Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control for a Class V waste permit -- a permit specifically designed to accept waste from out of state.

  • Panel discussion about Breathing Stories, Utah Voices for Clean Air, an art-as-advocacy chapbook delivered to state lawmakers earlier today. Guests included contributors:

  • Saturday, Feb. 3: Air Our Voice, 10:30-11:30, Utah State Capitol Rotunda (indoor), a press conference and public gathering featuring a public reading (by authors) of excerpts from Breathing Stories: Utah Voices for Clean Air By Torrey House Press. Includes the launch of the 2017 Air Pollution and Health Research Report By Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment.
